About

Sound Colourist.

Amy Chan Tsz Kwan began her career as a Sound Designer with a summer internship at 3H Sound Studio Limited in Taipei after graduating from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2017. She returned to Hong Kong for her debut in the independent film “Passing Rain” (2017), which competed at the Macao International Film Festival and Awards 2017 and was screened at the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival 2018. In addition to sound post-production, she also worked as a location sound recordist.

As a sound designer and mixer, Amy’s work spans independent feature films and drama shorts. She has collaborated with both local and international directors, including Takuya Misawa, Steve Li, Erica Kwok, and Fei-pang Wong. Some of her recent works include “The Red Kiss” (2025), which premiered at the 21st Osaka Asian Film Festival and was nominated for the Best Sound Award at the 38th Filmfest Dresden; “The Land of Bliss,” which won Best Cinematography at the 18th Fresh Wave International Short Film Festival; and “28,” which received the Fresh Wave Award at the 19th Fresh Wave International Short Film Festival.

To Amy, sound not only conveys messages but, more importantly, evokes emotions and vibrations that resonate with one’s subconscious mind. She explored her interest in sound through performing arts, collaborating with sound artists and musicians at the Freespace Jazz Fest Experimental Jazz Lab organized by the West Kowloon Cultural District (Hong Kong) in 2020. In 2021, she worked with dancers and visual artists on their respective dance videos. Inspired by the recent wave of departures from Hong Kong, she created "Birdscape Break" (2022), a sound work comprising eight audio tracks, commissioned by Contemporary Musiking Hong Kong. Currently, she is also venturing into the realm of sound healing, beginning to practice with singing bowls and chanting.

Believing that creation is a process of connecting people and ideas, she has expanded her opportunities by taking on the role of producer since “Lost Pearl” (2021).

Amy was selected as one of the Berlinale Talents 2023 and served as a Sound Fellow at the BIFF Asian Film Academy 2022.
